Space in Selections Filter Field

Postby Brent » Fri Oct 31, 2008 5:14 am

Since space is a delimiter in the Selections Filter field, which does not recognize regular expressions, how then can one enter a pattern containing a space?

Thanks, by the way, for this polished, powerful, timesaving product.

You should be able to put the entry in quotes.

Thanks, Jim, but unfortunately, it does not work.

Hi,

Has this issue been resolved since 2008?

I also would like to be able to use Space-characters in the filter mask.
I have tried enclosing the space-character in Quotation marks. but this does not appear to work

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mark

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was trying to figure this out myself today. Here's what I did in case anyone in the future needs to do this.

If you want to filter your selection with a phrase that contains spaces, replace the spaces with * symbols in your selection filter phrase.

Example:
Phrase: Microsoft Outlook 2010
Filter: Microsoft*Outlook*2010

Thank you for your reply

I have tried out your suggestion and found it to be a useful work-around.

I can also use the ? wildcard to specify the single-space-between words.

Thanks for sharing
