Maximum characters in the RegEx(1) boxes?

Does anybody know the most possible characters granted inside of the RegEx(1) "Match" box that can still conduct properly?
Im experimenting with a long match, so its 165 characters long and not giving any troubles yet, but it does keep getting bigger.

I do not believe there is a limit, but you can only save up to 999 characters in a field if I am not mistaken....

Many thanks for reply.. Now Im very glad I asked the question, because I was conducting a "v2" experiment like...
(^.+$)(?X)

Except I was pasting (^.+$)(?X) again and again to discover the limit, but it just seemed to keep conducting forever.
So then I started pasting like ten more each time with the paste, and still it kept conducting properly.
So this is all very good news, because 999 is much more than I would really ever hope to save.
