Bulk Rename Utility

What's the correct way to use the File Properties: Exif Date Taken (Original) / Item Date set to function in the BRU Change File Timestamps dialog box?

I've tried this function on JPEG files that have an existing Exif Date Taken property value using the Date Created and Date Modified options, and the Date Taken value doesn't change.

Renaming Options > ID3 / Exif Data / File Properties - tick Extract Exif Data (Photos)
