File ordering - Windows versus BRU

Postby TomP » Wed Jul 01, 2009 8:31 am

I have a problem when renaming files whose names contain
numbers. BRU appears to sort the files in strict alphabetical
order, character by character, left to right. Thus the files
11.txt, 5.txt, 88.txt would be ordered in that sequence. On the
other hand Windows Vista and Windows XP would order these files
as 5.txt, 11.txt, 88.txt. Thus Windows takes the whole number
into account when ordering. Is there any facility in BRU for
switching to the Windows ordering?

Try Options|Sorting|Logical Sorting.

Many thanks. Yes, that works. I had checked the logical sorting box but since I saw no immediate change I unchecked it again! I did not realise that you have to exit BRU and re-enter to implement the change!
