Renaming 1000s of image files

Postby kcb410 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 8:22 pm

I have approx 2000 product images to rename. Their current filename structure is AW1256 black_LRG.jpg. I need to keep the model number before the space and delete everything after the space, except the extension. The model number changes for each file.

I have - AW1256 black_LRG.jpg
I need - AW1256.jpg

Does anyone know how I would accomplish this??

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi kcb,

use Sector Remove (5):
Crop: After
type a blank into the box right beside

Specify a numbering, if some model numbers are the same, otherwise you'll receive identical file names, which - of course - won't work.

BTW: A 'Hello' would have been nice...

hi y'all

BRU is a great powerful utility for doing very complicated renaming

for a simpler program (that may be a bit easier to use to accomplish the simple file rename that kcb is looking to do), try ckrename:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/CKRename.shtml

glad to see that there are still people actively (and legitimately :) ) posting on the BRU forums

thank you for your answers. eke-eke, the sourcecode could be a great help. But as you say, it isnt available. Be nice if the dollz injects an stub. The uncompressed dol will be in some part...
Any case, you know how i can contact with softdev?

Thanks.
