Set "Picture Taken" based on Filename

Postby hirrsson » Sun Oct 25, 2009 4:22 pm

All,

First I want to say that this tool is the best tool !!! I've used it the last years, and never missed a function (until now).

My problem now is, that I just realized that my windows media center changed the metadata "picture taken" on my pictures.
The best thing though is that I have as a standard to rename the pictures after I shot them (Add the picture taken to the file name).
My filename standard is: "DSC00023 - Taken 2001-01-04 09.50.47.JPG" (original filename + YYYY-MM-DD HH.MM.SS.JPG)

How can I set the "picture taken" date based on the filename?

I really hope that it's possible in the tool, and that it's only a "usage" issue.

Thanks for you help!

Hi,

thanks for the very quick answer!

Is there anywhere a feature list, where I could add this function?
I would love to see this in a future version, especially as it's something which is useful.

I talked yesterday with 2 friends and they also searches for one of these functions. They don't need it for the mediacenter but for their photo editing process.

Functions that would be great to add in BRU are:
- Set "Picture taken" attribute based on filename
- Set create & modify date attribute based on filename

Thanks
Mike
