Need Help : Files being renamed with contents changed

Hi, I have this weird issue of using Bulk Rename 4.1.0.1

If I rename a folder of files (could be 10s of MP3 or 10s of XLS) for example to add YYYY or 2026 to the front of the names, some how I could rename the files but some files would have the same content ? But the file names and sizes are different.

I don't think I'm quite understanding what you're saying, but,
Renaming Options... -> Prevent Duplicates, might help?

When enabled, the Prevent Duplicates option allows to you to overcome the situation whereby a rename would fail because a file with the same name already exists: if you try to rename a file, and there's already a file with the same name, the software will make a subsequent attempt to rename the file but with a "_1" suffix. If this fails, it will try with "_2" as the suffix, and will continue up to "_99". The limit of 99, and the separator character underscore (_) are used by default.

Is that a single directory, that you're dealing with?
Or an entire directory tree (including subdirectories)?

Maybe an example of these 10, what they were before, & what you're left with after?
