Home/academic license

Postby Panchdara » Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:21 am

Forgive me, but when did the Home/Academic license begin? More than likely since day 1... but I never saw it. I use BRU as a home user. Had I known there was this type/cost of a license I would have long since purchased it.... I purchased it as soon as I noticed it was available. I am really pleased.

Hi, with the release of the new Bulk Rename Utility version 4, we have introduced a new home/academic license option: for home use or academic use in schools and universities, home/academic licenses are available that will unlock all of the features of Bulk Rename Utility, including Javascript renaming.

yes I was bit surprised by this as well but Im also pleased that you can make volunary donations- this is the way MP3tag works and I think this is a sensible thing... I will definitely now donate more with this method as I tend to think of donation after a hefty run through of music files etc. The only observation I would make is I cant remember seeing an update prompt and was a bit shocked how far behind the curve I had become. This is the sort of software that deserves a much greater exposure instead of the bloatware that infests the internet nowadays. Good to see and more to come!

Hi thanks a lot for the kind words and for supporting BRU!
We introduced the Home/Academic license with the release of Bulk Rename Utility 4. It’s intended for personal (non-commercial) use and academic use (schools/universities), and it unlocks all features, including JavaScript renaming.
