Rename from a list

Postby pbutche » Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:33 pm

I hope I didn't miss a posting on this already. I searched but I didn't anything relevant.

Here’s what I'm trying to do:
There is a spreadsheet with approx 6,000+ file names on it
Column A has the FileSite #. Column B has the file name.
eg:
Column A Column B
0000001 Correspondence to Mr. Smith
0000002 Discovery
0000003 Motion filed 20110101

The corresponding disk of documents are all named by the FileSite #.

I want to rename all 6000+ files using the data found in Column B.

Is the Bulk Rename Utility capable of handling such a task?

Thanks!

Yes.

BRU calls it: "Renaming From A Text File"
Read the help to learn how.

Or just search the forum for "Excel",
then you had found it, e.g. here >>> http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1271&p=3652&#p3652
