To remove blank spaces, replace with underscores

Postby iflewOrTheCukoosNest » Fri Sep 06, 2013 7:14 pm

Windows 7 and I'd like to replace blank spaces with underscores in file names. Can someone please explain simply how to do this?

I had it working for a while and then a runtime error "53" prompt started coming up and closing the app.

Please help, thanks.

Use Repl.(3)
Replace: #
With: _

Instead of the '#' sign enter a space there.

Select some files in the Name list first, to see in the New Name list what happens.

What happens is, the file name is replace with the extension. It is a png and the file name is changed to .png

Thanks

edit:

The file name is rupert murdoch.png and after I use the Bulk Rename Utility it becomes .png

Perhaps you have File(2) set to [Remove]?

Is any other rule than Repl.(3) coloured in red?
Try menu "Actions > Reset All Criteria" and after that try again.

If nothing works, delete (or rename) the "Bulk Rename Utility.ini" and any *.bru files in your Bulk Rename Utility folder. Then you have something like a fresh installed tool.

OK, finally figured this out and it is so simple too.

Had to replicate the empty space between the letters in the file names and I just hit the space bar once in the
"replace box" along with the underscore in the "with box". Had the underscore right but left out the other.

Thanks!
