replace with folder name

Postby Viszer » Wed May 19, 2021 11:15 am

Hi all
I just started using the software and it as powerful as confusing rn for me :0 so i do have a question.
I have master folder with subfolders which hold some files and i would need in each of those subfolder to rename one file- always named the same way - to folder name and the rest of the files to stay as they are.
how can i do it? - idea would be to use replace but i dont see a way to replace it with active command - replace all xxx files to folder name and leave all other file the same as they are.

THX in advance

Is this 1 file always named the same?
Did you want the folder name of 1file's parent or of "master"?

12:Filters, allows you to set a Mask: to 1file (which would work assuming 1file(s) are able to be masked).
Or, you could drag & drop (only) 1file(s) into BRU...

7:Add
or
9:Append Folder Name, could cover you depending on your 'folder name' needs

Which file in each subfolder should be renamed ?? (Are they xxx.anyextension or like xxx.jpg ?)
How should the file be renamed?? (Does 'to folder name' mean 'to masterfolder' or 'to subfolder' ?)

the name of the file is always the same
the general structure is like that
-master
--day_1
--- clip_1.mp4
--- clip_x.mp4
--- preview.mp4
--day_2
--day_x

and I would need a way to rename all preview.mp4 to the name of the folder the preview is in - eg. day_1, day_2 etc. - best would be if i would be able to rename all 20-30 preview at once, not opening each separate folder and renaming it one by one.

i did thought about masking but when i try to mask "preview" while being in master folder then i dont see the "day" folder so i cant select them...

for now thats the way i work -
2:Name - remove -> 9: append folder name but that require to go in to each folder separately and i was looking for a solution that would handle all preview files in all day folders in master folder

You need to tic the 'subfolders' option in 12:Rename.

In the example, I used *.sys, but you would use Preview.mp4 (& other settings you require).
