"Clone" - A New Renaming Rule Suggestion

I would like to suggest to implement a new renaming rule in to the BRU application, which I will refer to as "Clone (#)"

"Clone (#)" would allow the user to clone multiple file names from one set of files to another set of files.



If this is already possible with RegEx, I would appreciate it if someone can provide the code.

Not following what you're looking to do?

from Selection1 to Selection2
but...

you want to Copy the files from 1 to 2?
- hardly a function for a file (name) renamer

or you want to Copy the file names from 1 to 2?
& if so, the destination files would be... what, empty, 0-bytes, with only the file name itself as a placeholder in the S2 directory?

or ?


(robocopy can duplicate a folder structure, but I don't believe it can recreate empty file names.)

The most simple way I can explain it is, I want the ability to copy the file names from a selection of multiple files at once.

I find myself wanting this functionality in situations where I pain stakingly manually rename files 1 by 1, but there are other folders containing the exact same description of files but with sligh difference.

So for example:

Vocal_01_Hello_(Delay_FX)
Vocal_02_World_(Delay_FX)
Vocal_03_I_(Delay_FX)
Vocal_04_Need_(Delay_FX)
Vocal_05_The_(Delay_FX)
Vocal_06_Ability_(Delay_FX)

Here I would use the "Clone (#)" ranming rule, and the Replace (3) "Delay" with "Reverb".

So "Clone (#)" would be a 1:1 file name copy-to-destination function. But it would be able to copy multiple file names at once and can send them to multiple destinations at once, hence (Selection 1 & Selection 2).
