Bug/glitch report: vanishing open parentheses in New Name

Postby mrblister » Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:14 pm

v4.0.0.2 on Windows 11 64-bit.
Going batty since I can't post an open parentheses here, so the file name is on the left of this image:
https://imgur.com/a/CQ7htyx

If you type the full email address in the file name into Replace, and then type joe@b into With, the New Name preview loses the open parentheses, but the actual rename function will include it in the renamed file.

This file name is how Microsoft instructed us to name Outlook signatures for the desktop version, BTW.

Hopefully that's clear enough to recreate.

Can't seem to duplicate.

3:Replace
Code: Select all
Replace:  123456@js-bla.com
With:  joe@b

If that's correct, the ( ) are not being affected on my end, & New Name shows the parens.
I'll note that in your shot, the @ is not highlighted?
(And on my end, appears the 'b' is not highlighted.)

Though there are issues with the highlighting itself.
Check out the Preview button, where there is no highlighting, & see if that does not in fact show the parens.

Pretty sure your issue will be the highlighting issue.
(Note the mention there of Ctrl+H which will help to point this out if it is the issue.)

I suspect it might be the new change highlighting (which you can turn on / off with Ctrl+H).
Which font are you using / Windows version? thank you

Hi, yes that was it. CTRL+H fixed the issue.

I was using a new install of BRU on Windows 11 64-bit and wasn't aware of the CTRL+H.

Replicated today with before and after of CTRL+H:https://imgur.com/a/qPMhy66

I don't know how to change or find what system font Windows 11 is using, so I definitely would not have changed it on purpose.

I'm using a standard HD monitor with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro installed.

Hope that helps.

We were able to recreate this issue and it should be fixed in the new version 4.0.0.3

You can download from here if you are able to try it out:
