How to rename .picasaoriginals subfolders

I inherited my dad's Picture archives. Unfortunately, this contains a lot of subfolders named .picasaoriginals (i.e. just an extension with no folder name). When I try to modify image filenames across the entire data store (such as removing IMG_ prefix), files within these .picasaoriginals subfolders are not found or processed. Is there any way for me to rename these funky folders across the datastore using Bulk Rename?
