Hello and I can't get it to work for me

Hello, I am an octogenarian male, so I hope you will be kind and patient with me!

This my first try with BRU and I am wanting to remove the date stamp from the extremely numerous files located in many folders and subfolders, that were recovered from Windows 10 File History folder on my external HDD to my Computer. For illustration the files are all named similarly to " ratios (2016_11_12 18_50_08 UTC), and itis the coloured part on each file, that I want to remove.

From another forum I was advised

Load up the "Bulk Renaming Utility and in the "Remove 5" box" tick R. In "Words box" enter the time code information with brackets that you can copy and paste from one of the file history files (it is the same for all of the files for that particular file history backup) In "Crop" enter with the drop down .. AFTER. Tick "Trim" (this will remove any gaps). Untick Add, Auto date Numbering

. The rename box at bottom r.h. is greyed out.

I hope you can help: I'm completely confused, and I'm anxious to get all in order before I get a new computer to replace this ailing one.

Hello:
You will need to do folders and files separate

Options>> tick prevent dubs
Section: (5) Remove
Crop pull down = Special
Fill box on the right = (*)

Section: (12) Selections
Tick Subfolders
Tick Files

This will remove all ( ) and anything in-between them. This may leave a space at the end of filenames. If so.

Options>> Tick ignore file ext.
Section: (3) Repl.

Un-tick ignore file ext when done, because this can mess up other renaming if you forget it's active

You should be able to do this with regex.

Filters (12)
Folders: selected <only select this if you want to rename some folders as well as files>
Files: selected
Subfolders: selected

RegEx (1)
Match: ^(.*) \(\d{4}_\d{2}.*\)$
Replace: \1
Copy and paste the Match and Replace codes above

Select all the files (Ctrl + A)
Check the new files names are correct then Rename
